Come join AORN of San Diego County on May 31st from 8:30am-2pm at the Bankers Hill Club located at 3030 Front Street, San Diego, CA 92103. This workshop will explore the theme of caring for the caregiver, and offer 4 CEs approved by the CA board of registered nursing. Our lineup of speakers is sure to be informative and engaging, as they delve into topics relevant to perioperative practice. Don't miss out on this exciting event!

Topic 1: Becoming Your Own Best Friend, the Ultimate Self-Care
Speaker: Dolores Fazzino, DNP, RN

Objectives:
- Define living and being in the present moment
- Discuss the differences in the concepts of doing and being
- State two personal benefits to guided meditation

Topic 2: Improving Perioperative Compassion Fatigue Through Mindfulness Stress-Reduction
Speaker: Amanda Cook, DNP, RN

Objectives:
- Identify root causes of compassion fatigue within the perioperative setting
- State the usefulness of the ProQOL-5 Surveys to determine levels of compassion fatigue
- Determine the individual and group influences of mindfulness
- Discuss the utilization of mindfulness training as an employee onboarding tool
- Discuss the implementation of mindfulness during annual nursing competencies

Topic 3: Patient Safety Trivia Hour
Facilitator: Stella Yau, MSN, RN, CNOR

Objectives:
- Increase Knowledge of Patient Safety Practices: Attendees will learn about evidence-based patient safety practices enhancing their understanding of strategies to promote patient safety in the perioperative setting.
- Enhance Understanding of Perioperative Efficiency: Participants will explore innovative tools and techniques presented to gain insights into ways to improve efficiency and streamline processes in the perioperative environment.
- Expand Awareness of Perioperative Best Practices: Attendees will learn about current best practices in perioperative care, enabling them to stay updated on the latest advancements and techniques that contribute to high-quality patient care.

Topic 4: Effective Strategies to Tackle Well-Being in the Perioperative Setting
Speaker: J. D. Buchert, MSN(s), M.Ed., MS, RN, CNOR

Objectives:
- Identify mental and emotional stressors associated with the staff’s role in the healthcare setting
- Discuss the ramifications that stress can play on personal well-being and quality of life
- State how aromatherapy can reduce stress
- Discuss the importance of stress reduction opportunities in facilities to improve patient care and nurse retention
- Identify the healthcare setting role in a healthy work environment
